This is an old revision of the document!

Maternal recall of childhood illness and infectious disease was collected in 1948, 1950, 1952, 1954 and 1957. Mothers were asked about whooping cough, measles, scarlet fever and mumps, but more general information about colds was also collected.

In addition, reports of accidents and maternal recall of hospital admissions were collected.  Hospital admissions were classified into 32 categories (based on ICD8 categories), for the categories 0-4, 5-10, 11-15, 16-20 and 21-25 years.  A similar set of variables were derived for accidents.

A set of variables describing childhood chronic illness were derived in the 1970s. (See Pless et.al 1971)
